Psyllium is a member of the plantaginaceae family, it is also called ispaghul. Psyllium is in fact the Anglo-Saxon term and ispaghul its French name. It is more precisely the seed of a plant called "Indian plantain". This plant has been used for centuries by all civilizations in many indications.

Psyllium was already recognized as very effective against diarrhea and constipation and used for people suffering from hemorrhoids.
